"The night I die, my husband stands there and does nothing. A stolen Cartier necklace. Surveillance footage that looks exactly like me. A mob husband who swears I'm guilty. His so-called ""sister"" pulling the strings behind my back. I'm stabbed to death on the street by an internet mob while Dante Morretti watches from the sidelines. When I open my eyes again, I'm back — the night it all began. This time, I smash the dinner table, get myself locked in a psych ward, and build the one thing they never expected: an airtight alibi. They framed me once. They won't get a second chance."

第1章

I crash my mafia husband's dinner with his crew and he sent me to a psych ward. In my last life, after that same dinner, we found a diamond necklace in the private room, worth at least a billion dollars. Gianna, my husband Dante's most trusted woman in the family, said she had the connections to track down the owner. I handed it over without a second thought. Five days later, the police showed up at my door. They said I'd stolen a high-value item and sold it for cash. Surveillance footage showed me slipping the necklace into my bag at the restaurant. The woman in those videos looked exactly like me. I had no way to defend myself, so I begged Dante to vouch for me. But Dante swore to my face that he saw me take it with his own eyes. The internet tore me apart overnight. They called me a greedy bitch, a thief. They doxxed me within hours. A mob found me on the street and stabbed me dozens of times. I died right there on the pavement. My parents got dragged into it too. Someone barricaded their door and set the building on fire. They burned alive. Even as I bled out, I couldn't understand. I never took that necklace. So why did every single piece of evidence point to me? Then I open my eyes, and I'm back, the day we found the necklace. ... I pick up the wine bottle and smash it right on my mafia husband, Dante's dinner table. Dante's boys freeze mid-drink, staring at me like I've lost my mind. Before anyone finishes the sentence, I flip the entire table over. Dante finally snaps out of it and grabs my arm. I sink my teeth into his hand like a rabid animal. His eyes go bloodshot. "Summer, what the fuck is wrong with you?" I yank at my own hair and scream at the top of my lungs. "I've lost it! Go ahead, throw me in a psych ward if you've got the balls!" I grab a chair and swing it at whoever's closest. Two of Dante's guys rush in and pin my arms back. Gianna steps forward, playing the innocent card, her voice dripping with fake concern. "Dante, is it because I'm here? I didn't mean to make her uncomfortable." "Just take her home, Boss. She's ruining the sit-down." The restaurant manager scrambles to call for a psychiatric transport. By the time the orderlies show up, Dante's face is white with rage. He screams at me, veins bulging in his neck. "Summer, there's nothing wrong with you! Quit the act!" An orderly steps between us. "Sir, please calm down. We see this fuss all the time, it's completely normal. Your wife needs professional help. This is better for both of you." "Please, just let her go with the doctors. We can't have her here, she's scaring away every customer in the building." Dante is shaking with anger. "Summer, if you keep this up, we're getting a divorce!" I let out a high-pitched giggle, snatch a shard of broken glass off the floor, and drag it across his cheek. "Pretty face..." I whisper. The color drains from Dante's face. The orderlies wrestle me onto the transport van and strap me in. As the van pulls away from the restaurant, I let out a long, slow breath. In my last life, even as I lay dying, I couldn't figure it out. I didn't take that necklace. So why did every piece of evidence say I did? The footage wasn't faked. So why was it me on that screen? Now I'm back. This time, I'm going to find out the truth, and make every last one of them pay.

I sleep early, wake early, and spend five peaceful days in the psych ward, completely cut off from the outside world. Honestly, it beats the daily grind by a mile. On day five, the doctors run a full evaluation, confirm I'm mentally stable, and sign my discharge papers. I count the days in my head. In my last life, the cops showed up at my door right around now. But this time, I haven't left the facility once. Not for a single minute. I've been under constant watch, doctors, nurses, cameras. Every second accounted for. There's no way anyone can say I stole that necklace. I walk out through the front doors, feeling lighter than I have in years. The second I step outside, Dante is waiting. He storms up and slaps me across the face so hard my ears ring. "Summer, you stupid bitch. We never let you go hungry. We never let you go without. And you steal?" What? This time around, I was locked inside a psychiatric facility with an airtight alibi. How the hell is he still pinning this on me? Gianna stands behind Dante, arms crossed, her voice sweet as poison. "Summer, that necklace is worth a billion dollars. It's not a small amount and Dante doesn't want to pay for that. Just turn yourself in. Make it easier on everyone." Behind them, a swarm. Influencers, livestreamers, bloggers, all shoving cameras and phones in my face. "Guys, we found her! The necklace thief!" "This is the woman who stole it and drove a man to kill himself!" Someone in the crowd asks, "Wait, kill himself?" "You haven't heard? The guy who owned the necklace, tech startup founder, burned through all his cash. He was going to use that necklace as collateral for a loan, last shot to save his company. Then it disappeared. Company went under." "He jumped off a building yesterday." In my last life, this is exactly how it played out. The case turned into a death. The victim was a rising tech founder, a self-made guy, beloved online. The story went viral overnight. And because I was married to a Morretti, it got ten times worse. Years of public rage against the family, the extortion, the intimidation, the businesses destroyed, all of it poured straight onto me. I was the one they could reach. I was the one without protection. After they stabbed me to death last time, they carved up my face with the knife. I take a deep breath, about to speak up. A woman bursts out of the crowd and shoves me to the ground. "You greedy, disgusting thief!" "You destroyed my family!" She grabs a fistful of my hair and screams in my face. "My son with Marcus, he was just born! How could you drive my husband to his death?" "I haven't even finished my postpartum recovery and I've already lost him! My baby is not even a month old and he doesn't have a father!" "You deserve to die! They should put you in front of a firing squad!" She's bigger than me. I can't fight her off. Dante and Gianna stand to the side, watching. Neither of them moves. She pins me down, straddles me, and pulls out a kitchen knife, aiming straight for the artery in my neck. The memory of my last death hits me like ice water down my spine. The blade is an inch from my throat when a voice cuts through the chaos. "Stop! Right now!"

The psych ward staff see things spiraling and call the cops immediately. Police arrive fast, Morretti name probably helped, and drag the woman off me. I push myself up from the pavement, wincing. This woman. She's the same one who stabbed me to death in my last life. I exhale slowly. Thank God the cops got here in time. I take a moment to steady myself, then hold up my bruised arm and point to my swollen cheek. I look past the crowd, past Dante, and speak directly to the officer. "Officer, these people physically assaulted me. And everything they've been shouting is defamation, none of it is true." The officer scans the crowd, then his gaze settles on my face. "We received a report that you stole a high-value item, which led to the owner's suicide. We're going to need you to come with us." No. Something's wrong. If this were just Dante and Gianna manipulating public opinion to frame me, they'd never involve actual law enforcement. Not the Morrettis. They keep cops at arm's length, or in their pocket. Unless the surveillance footage still exists. The same footage from my last life. I force myself to stay calm. "I didn't steal anything. Do you have evidence?" The officer pulls out his phone and shows me the screen. "We pulled footage from the restaurant and a secondhand jewelry dealer downtown. The person who took the necklace and the person who sold it, both are clearly you." I stare at the screen. It's the same footage. Identical to what I saw in my last life. I zoom in with shaking fingers. The woman in the video doesn't just look like me. She is me, same face, same expressions, same outfit, same scratch on my handbag clasp. Down to the last detail. Exactly like before. My heart is pounding. I was dragged out of that restaurant by psych ward orderlies before the dinner even ended. I never touched the necklace. And for the past five days, I haven't been out of a doctor's or nurse's line of sight for a single second. So why is it still me in that footage? The crowd erupts. "The cops brought receipts and she's still denying it!" "She killed that man! Lock her up and throw away the key!" My mind races. Before I checked myself into the psych ward, I knew Dante and Gianna would try to come after me again. I expected it. But I didn't expect the evidence to be this perfect. Not a single crack. Not a single flaw. I lower my head, thinking hard, and the crowd takes it as a confession. "See? She's got nothing to say!" "Mafia bitch! You should rot in hell!" I lift my chin and look the officer dead in the eye. "I did not steal that necklace." Dante strides forward and slaps me again. "Still lying? Summer, the Morretti family does not harbor a thief." "We're done. I want a divorce." Gianna stands two steps behind him, one hand tucked casually in her pocket. "Summer, just stop fighting it." "We were all there that night. We all saw you take it." "And the surveillance footage is crystal clear, three days ago, you walked into a jewelry shop and sold it." "Confess and they'll go easy on you. Keep lying, and it'll only get worse." The crowd and the livestream comments explode. "Her own husband is testifying against her and she's still lying through her teeth!" "Shameless! A man is dead because of her and she's living her best life. Does she even have a conscience?" I turn back to the officer, keeping my voice steady. "The timestamps on that footage don't add up. During the entire period those videos were recorded, I was inside a psychiatric facility. I couldn't have stolen the necklace, and I couldn't have sold it." "If you don't believe me, pull the hospital surveillance. You'll see."
